As a result of my lifelong love for learning, I have a diverse career and educational background. While I was serving in the U.S. Navy (fun fact - I used to be an helicopter electronics engineer in a combat search and rescue squadron), I obtained a bachelor's degree in environmental health sciences. After leaving the military, I was accepted into the Duke University Global Health Institute and obtained a master's in global health sciences. A few years ago, I moved to Oregon, where I am currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology and working at the VA as a psychotherapist. I am passionate about the great outdoors, justice and equity, psychology and cross-cultural mental health, backpacking with my two dogs, English literature, music, and serving youth who are experiencing houselessness.
