Hi I'm Kristen! I have just finished my sophomore year at the University of Maryland College Park Honors College, where I am majoring in Biological Sciences. I have experienced firsthand how frustrating handling unclear instructors can be, and the clarity that simple one on one explanations can bring. While my education has qualified me as a tutor for multiple academic subjects, in the fields of Science, English, and Math I value personal connections and material comprehension above simply covering the information. I am flexible and adjust my teaching style to challenge and support each student in their strengths and weaknesses. Every student is unique, and I am willing to put time and effort in working with them to achieve their full potential. I have extensive experience with both paid and volunteer tutoring for students of all ages. I have worked as a paid tutor for English and Chemistry, where I was able to improve English pronunciation, reading comprehension skills, and mastery of verb tenses in my elementary through collegiate level students, as well as boost consequent exam grades by at least 20% as a high school Chemistry tutor. Throughout high school I was tutoring chair for the Science National Honor Society, and coordinated as well as mentored in school-wide peer tutoring sessions.
