Laura is passionate about neuroscience, language, and music. She received her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and minor in Music from Skidmore College, where she learned interdisciplinary approaches used to study the relationship between science and art. Laura spent her first year of employment at New York University in an auditory cognition laboratory, investigating the relationship between language, music and brain activity using neurotechnology such as electroencephalography. She also volunteered and shadowed speech pathologists at Mount Sinai in Manhattan, helping aphasic patients learn to read, write and speak. Through her volunteer work, she discovered a passion for aiding others in their recovery processes; she enjoys helping other gain confidence in their ability to improve. She also loves helping people discover and remember effective and creative strategies for solving math and reading comprehension problems. Laura has spent the past year working as a tutor teaching high school level subjects such as math, biology, spanish, and test prep for the ACT and SAT exams. In her free time, Laura can be found singing opera and jazz music, experimenting with photography and creating costumes, props, and colorful makeup looks.
