To the Reviewers; I have been coaching and tutoring English since Junior High; as an honors student, I was assigned to be the “buddy” for students needing help. I went on to be the editor of the school paper all the way through my position as Editor at the Daily Bruin at UCLA. As a Lecturer at California State University, I tutored my students on how to write essays, how to edit their own papers, and on how to structure their ideas into a simple three-part arrangement to build a convincing argument for their ideas. I excelled at Kaplan Test Prep in helping students who were especially challenged and required patient, methodical instruction and who benefitted from my optimistic, good-humored, supportive approach. I have been the homeschool English teacher for many of my friends’ and neighbors’ children for the past twenty years. I was the Teaching Assistant for English professors at UCLA, including Stephen Yenser (Director of the Creative Writing Program), Joy Harjo, Mona Simpson, and Greg Sarris. I founded and edited the UCLA Undergraduate Research Journal, called Westwind. I served as copyeditor for several journals. As a worker, I bring to every task my zeal for efficiency and my dedication to meeting high standards. My optimism and sincere warmth help me build and maintain great working relationships, because I like to work and like making it as pleasant as possible for all of us to succeed happily. When challenges arise, my response is to become creative and to innovate my way around obstacles. I love challenges and hard work.
