Sabrina is a recent graduate of Pomona College, where she finished Cum Laude, a High Pass recipient on all of the Senior Exams, and recognition as a Posse, Gates Millennium, Gilman, Sidley Pre-Law, and a Coca-Cola Scholar. Sabrina majored in Politics with a focus on international human rights law; she also was a Head Writing Partner for three out of her four years at Pomona College's Writing Center. As well, she consistently has worked as a dedicated tutor for Upward Bound and CLASP, where she mentored and taught students ranging from ages 10-22 and from all backgrounds, but particularly students from marginalized, ESL backgrounds. As a tutor, Sabrina has assisted her students in mastering all subjects and areas such as middle school math, editing application essays, studying for standardized tests, developing rigorous time management skills, and critical reading comprehension proficiencies.
Sabrina is the first in her family to graduate high school, let alone attend college, and she plans to matriculate to law school after taking a gap year working as a Global Writing and Speaking Fellow at New York University in Shanghai, where she will work as a full time Academic Resource Fellow for an international student body. Law school is the next goal for Sabrina, and she has worked diligently to move closer to it. From being selected as a 2019 TRIALS fellow sponsored by Harvard Law School to shadowing Judge Anne Williams of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, Sabrina has an unmoving passion for understanding the law as a tool of change. Sabrina aspires to practice civil rights law protecting and upholding the rights of people with disabilities. Sabrina and her family suffer from a rare, genetic blood disease known as HHT, which took the lift of her Brother Robert in 2005. Sabrina’s battle with HHT has fostered in her a sense of bravery and passion to catalyze legally-mandated change for people with rare diseases.
More than anything, Sabrina is passionate, meticulous, goal-oriented, and proud of all of her diverse identities, whether it's her Chicago-native pride, love for Lord of the Rings and other Sci-Fi adventures, or Latina background. When it comes to teaching and tutoring, Sabrina prides herself on her attention to detail, empathetic demeanor, focused mentorship, empowering pedagogical approach, and devotion to collaboratively helping each and every student progress on their individual academic journeys. As a tutor, Sabrina will commit to holistically ensure each student can successful achieve their goals both as students and people.
