Hello! My name is Tara Gilbert. I am a 23-year veteran teacher. I am about to complete my first year as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in the Hickman County Schools district. Before that, I was a schools-based speech/language therapist for 22 years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University (1993). I also completed Master's Equivalent coursework in Speech-Language Pathology through Tennessee State University (2003-2005). I recently completed two semesters of coursework through Middle Tennessee State University for an ESL endorsement on my current teaching license. I have vast experience working with students between the ages of 3-18. I have also extensively collaborated with teachers across all grade levels and many content areas. I have worked in the Dekalb, Hickman, and Wilson County school districts with excellent observations and high praise. I feel that my experience with communication skills and knowledge of phonics, reading comprehension, writing skills, and grammar will be greatly beneficial to students seeking enhancement of skills through an online tutoring program.
