Being a teacher and tutor has taught me a lot about people and what motivates them. It is my belief that all students are capable of learning new skills and new concepts. If a student is having trouble, it is usually because the information or skill is being presented in a way that does not make sense for the student. This is why I love tutoring! You have the chance to see how a student thinks, what motivates them, what they need to feel successful, etc. I love reading, writing, social studies, and science. Most importantly, I like helping students better understand themselves as learners so they can feel successful and more confident. I have more than ten years of experience teaching English Language Arts and social studies. I am energetic, friendly, and fun. Most of my experience has been with middle school and high school students, but I also have experience working with younger learners, especially in foundational reading skills.
