Hi All, I am a Public History that is looking for an extra gig on the side, and another way to engage with communities looking to improve their historical knowledge and research skills. I have a strong background in history, geography, and social studies outreach. I have developed multiple exhibits, workshop programs, and guides for using archival and museum resources. Much of my background is in reference, processing, and outreach within archives. I believe that one of the best ways to promote history education is to use primary sources. My career in archives so far has been in service of this belief. By providing better accessibility to archival holdings, better reference, and educational support, I have been able to improve history literacy with groups as young as 12 all they way up groups in the 70s and 80s. I also have a background in Academic Research. I have an M.A. degree in history from Middle Tennessee Stat University. Through this program i have not only become well-versed in US history, but i have also learned proper methods to teach it to others. My M.A. program taught me the skills to do proper historical research, but also how to then make that information approachable and accessible for individuals who are new to studying history. I believe that my public history background would make me an excellent tutor. I have the skills to work in a multitude of groups, to present information clearly and consistently, and i have the academic background to provide a solid understanding of US history for students.
