I'm a historian, linguist, and writer with an extensive background in research, publishing, and education. My interests are in classical and medieval European literature and technology, with a particular focus in ships and the sea. I received my B.A. in History and Classics from Middlebury College and am now pursuing an MPhil in Medieval History at the University of Cambridge. My research has taken me from the dreaming spires of the University of Oxford to the deck of a tall-ship in the Caribbean. My published writings have examined medieval reception of the Latin Classics and responses to the maritime environment in medieval Latin literature and manuscript illuminations. I am also a multi-instrumentalist with recording experience, an avid dinghy sailor, and an amateur architectural draughtsman.
