To whom it may concern,
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the Tutoring position. Working and advocating for students, regardless of their age is my passion. It is the reason why I have completed my Masters Degree in Special Education, with a specialization in ESL, along with receiving my Provisional License by the MA DESE, along with passing my last MTEL. Moreover, I have obtained a current and valid Speech/Language Pathology Assistant License.
Along with studying Abroad in Spain, I have a solid background of providing ESL and related services such as, Special Education, Speech/Language Therapy, Social Skills and Spanish for the past 16 years, grades K-12 and Adults as a College Instructor. I am also educated in all 4 Domains of ESL, as well as, TESOL, SEI, CCRS, ABE, and Adult ESOL Instruction, by taking 18 credits in graduate courses, in conjunction with receiving a SEI Endorsement, through Cambridge College.
Having the experience of living Abroad in Spain and taking classes at La Universidad de Salamanca, for over 6 months, has allowed me to empathize and connect deeply with my ESL students. I strongly relate to their experiences, as well as, admire and commend them, for making their journey to the U.S. It is rewarding to assist my students to achieve their personalized goals toward becoming valued and contributing members of society.
Having the experience and education in ESL, has led me to my current position at Chelmsford Educaion Community Adult Learning Center, as an ESL Course Instructor and a Spanish Course Instructor. I have additional years teaching Adult ESL, as I have served as an Instructor for Quinsigamond Community College, as well as, an Adult ESL Instructor, for the Assabet After Dark Program. During these positions, I was able to successfully implement effective and rigorous lesson plans, delivered with a multi-modal approach to learning, which not only significantly increased their English Proficiency Levels, however, provided them with the necessary skills and supports, including College/Career Readiness Skills, that have assisted each student to develop pathways to obtain future success and to ultimately achieve their goals.
In my Special Education roles, I have the valuable experience of collaborating with interdisciplinary Teams of professionals, including Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Administrators, regular education teachers and parents. I have attended and participated in IEP meetings, as well as, developed and implemented Individual Education Programs (IEP) in order to assist students to reach their goals, specified with accommodations for enhancing their unique learning styles. Furthermore, I have the experience of translating information in Spanish, to accommodate Spanish-speaking parents, within IEP meetings, in order to assist them to fully understand, facilitate and navigate through the IEP referral process, review assessments and documents pertaining to the student's IEP.
As a highly organized and strategic Instructor, along with my education, background and 16 years of experience as an Educator, in addition to having the highest level of passion, professionalism, will certainly qualify me an excellent candidate.
I have several letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a well developed portfolio, that fully display my exemplary teaching skills and level of expertise, to be delivered upon request.
Sincerely,
Ashley Frankian
