My name is Jerry Wooldridge. While my recreational interests have always varied from anything between hobbies such as collecting all the way to the mastering of musical instrumentation, a persistent and reliable interest and quality of mine is that of my thirst for educating others. I have been employed for both part-time jobs, and professional jobs. I can confidently state that training, educating, and increasing knowledge in general have always been traits that have followed me in all of these jobs. I presently work in therapeutic services as a substance abuse counselor, but am also an educator. I conduct a psychoeducational group on a weekly basis that ranges in mental health and substance abuse topics. I meet with anywhere between 2-20+ patients for this group. Education is also one of the most critical components in therapy. Clients so often need to learn about psychological trends, as well as learn more about themselves. It is my job to do this. I initially did not start in therapy, however, and primarily had interests in teaching English/Literature and History. My studies were focused on secondary education and pedagogy, but at the time I moved over to therapy. I spent a few semesters as a student teacher for a local high school in my college's town. This was a fun and valuable experience for me. My goal to work in education has never left me. I believe students are in need more than ever of being able to connect with someone outside of the classroom. Education does not stop at the classroom, but it needs to follow students into their homes. I want to be this connection for students.
