My name is Katharine Fuller I am a Graduate of Portland State University. I received a Masters’ Degree in Early Childhood Inclusive education, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Infant Toddler Mental health, June 2020. I have previously earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, specializing in crime mapping. I have also earned an AAS degree in Mental Health and Human Services, and 2 certificates, one in Behavioral health, and one in At Risk Youth. During my AAS degree I started working for various agencies that involved having extensive client lists and files to organize and keep track of. At Human solutions I had several clients at a time that I was responsible for with little supervision. I did very well at this job. I learned how to be very self-motivated and start and finish tasks without prompting from others. I learned how to have great professional boundaries and how to work as part of a team. I also learned how to manage a filing system and keep records of hard files and computer files. From that job I was hired by commissioner Saltzman to work at The Gateway Center for Domestic Violence. There I had to keep paperwork organized for up to 30+ clients per day. I had to fill out and file restraining orders and facilitate restraining order hearings. I was also tasked with running the front desk. This included giving people access to our building thru a buzzer system to the locked doors. Getting the clients to the correct person for their specific needs. Answering phone calls and emails and returning voicemails. Helping to ensure the facility was clean and the kitchen was stalked. Also ensuring that all forms were available and in their correct slots for the navigators to use with the clients. Along with all the office duties I was a navigator as well helping clients to receive the proper services. Due to the high demand of work needed for these jobs I have become an excellent employee for any company needing an organized, highly efficient, multitasker, who is extremely reliable and hard working. I am a great addition to any company, and I make sure to earn my position for anything I apply myself to. I do understand that there is a sufficient gap in my work history for the end of 2013 I became pregnant and had a child in 2014 whom later was diagnosed with lever 3 Autism. During my time home with her I have been committed to expanding my knowledge and moving forward obtaining degrees. During 2015-2017 I was working closely with Early Intervention, ABA, ECE, ST, OT and others who all pushed me and supported me in my obtaining my master’s degree in ECE due to the huge potential they saw in me in working with children with special needs, and even those without. In 2017 I applied and was accepted into Portland State Universities ECE master’s program. I have studied inclusive curriculum, Montessori curriculum, constructivist curriculum, inclusive educational environments and so much more. I look forward to starting a career in the Early Childhood Education field.
