I currently work as a mental health counselor at Tarleton State University helping clients who are experiencing mental health concerns, and instructing students in Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid courses. I have worked as a Pre-K assistant teacher at Head start for 1 year, and also served as a student instructor for psychology when attending the University of Texas at San Antonio. When I was in the U.S, Navy I spent time as a supervisor and trainer for subordinates in the intelligence field. In the world we live in, I believe that it is more important than ever to engage students in learning how to do research and apply the information that they learn rather than just memorizing information. I approach my clients with open-ended questions that encourage critical thinking skills.
