I began working for my father's construction company when I was a teenager answering the phone and taking information from customer's and potential clients. Since then I have gained much balance in my skills from working with parents, administrators, coworkers, students and individuals. With over ten years experience in the ?eld of Education, I am aware of the ever changing needs and conditions of our society. I have taught in Texas, Kentucky and Tennessee. I have always viewed skills in teaching as a pertinent part of our society. Teaching English and French to Jr High and High School students is teaching communication to our future generations. I owned my own desktop publishing company for approximately twenty years. In my business, I have both published and outsourced work that dealt with many different types of publications. ie., national and local newsletters, personal publications, web pages, advertising, educational materials, business related publications, con?dential and security sensitive materials, and even restaurant publications. I have since worked with a myriad of Apple applications and continue to work with Pagemaker, Keynote and numbers as well as Microsoft Office and Excel. I have multiple years of experience preparing and presenting bids, quotes, presentations, proposals and running a personal business office. As a Small Business owner, I developed excellent office management skills and people skills for dealing with customers, contractors, workers, students and their parents. I see the teaching and educational professions as a customer service position that is never explored by most businesses. I bring with me to any job my skills that are unique from my background. As a Specialist and a Creative in Training (teacher) for Apple I was able to work with many age groups as a personal trainer/teacher for One to Ones and small groups up to 20 or more people. Teaching some of the ?ner points of using the products and applications produced by Apple. While working at Apple at the Green Hills Nashville, Tennessee store I helped customers solve problems and alleviate their concerns about the equipment they were using or considering purchasing. I developed better problem solving skills found solutions by thinking outside the box. I have many varied talents and have used them to implement new ideas and strategies to create an innovative classroom and open the learning environment to new technological needs and advancements. I have worked as a mentor within my school programs to help students who need additional guidance. I am highly motivated to see and implement changes in our teaching environments that keep pace with the needs in the changing world around us.
