I have had the opportunity to live in many places around the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Central America. My father was a career soldier and served as chaplain in the U.S. Army. His work afforded our family the rich experience of seeing the world and connecting with its diverse citizens. Learning to integrate oneself into another culture uncovers a wellspring of personal growth. I truly believe the more we explore the outside world, the more our inner world is revealed as horizons expand within our character and perspectives. Living among groups of people with unique backgrounds created my love of people, communication, and languages; more importantly, it helped me understand how proactively connecting with others increases our ability to learn and fills us with an insatiable hunger to keep learning. My fluency in the ‘language of doing’ (i.e. seeking new learning experiences) and belief in the value of inserting ourselves into the fabric of unknown societies will translate, in this position, into developing the support systems for learners of all backgrounds to ensure their world opens up to new opportunities. Communication and knowledge combine to form and almost alchemical magic that affords people a special way to grow and succeed, truly changing their lives for the better. I hope to help Join Tutors transform student lives with this philosophy.
