I have over 20 years of experience working with children. As an experienced educator, I believe that by creating a positive and motivating environment I can support every student to reach their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning. I am a strong believer that project-based learning helps children gain a deeper understanding of the subject area and enables them to apply their knowledge in a variety of ways. I hold a Master's degree in Education1-6/ Students with Disabilities. As a part of my graduate fieldwork and as a NYC DOE Teacher’s Assistant, I have worked one-on-one and in small groups with children who struggled with their classwork, especially with reading comprehension and math skills. It was a part of my responsibility to collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance and reinforce learning goals across all subjects for students with IEPs. In my Director of Aquatics role, I honed my abilities in differentiated instruction and lesson planning, providing a solid foundation for the teaching position. As an American Red Cross instructor, I regularly teach group certification classes for teenagers. These have recently switched to remote format utilizing Zoom and Google classroom. This recent experience prompted me to complete training in the usage of multiple online platforms. Thank you for your time and consideration.
